Metals used:
- Titanium
- Zirconium
- Tungsten carbide
Why these metals are used:
Dental implant components, such as posts and screws, are primarily made from titanium or zirconium due to their excellent biocompatibility. Titanium is the most commonly used because it bonds well with bone, is lightweight, and highly resistant to corrosion. Zirconium, though metal-like, is technically a ceramic and is sometimes used as an alternative for patients sensitive to metals. Tungsten carbide, known for its extreme hardness and durability, is often used in the tips of dental drills or burs used in implant procedures, ensuring the tools can withstand repetitive use without wearing out.
